5.80 Index coming to 75/80??? |

Seen some talk over on J's sight, you may want to take a look.If it happens, it would be good to see some of our PSI and 275 guys give it support. You can
always use anotther place to race. Maybe more DOT tires can run 6.50 as well (maybe reconsider tire choices....hint, hint).

It would be good to see names like Barry, McCloud, Geisler, Falcone, Turner and all the other PSI regulars on the qualifying ladder next week. ANy of you going
to make the trip? I saw the Va. guys spouting off. I guess they think they are the only index racers in the area. Let 75/80 have a 10.00 race on the same day
and you wouldn't be able to find a parking space!

The tire rule is discouraging me.The rule will open the class up to a wide varity of cars that dont fit the "heads up" style of racing (my opinion)
We guys in this style of racing (big hp, small tire, heavy car) have spent
alot of money and time to get were we are..........and I for one dont want to race a bracket car or a tubbed car. A lite, big tire car will have an atvantage in a fast index class........a small tire car will have to adjust accordingly as the night goes on........not to mention cost compareson of the cars. Dont get wrong, I respect the bracket / tubbed cars.......I just choose not to race with them......... I would rather get my ass handed to me by a car of equal specs. I have raced PSI in the past........and had a good time doing it! 75/80 is doing a good thing by trying new classes, and I hope it takes off for them. |

X2 on Mike's comments.
I ran 75/80 last night and I sure need more seat time to get comfortable with the new combination and it's power, not to mention working on the chassis tuning.

Wow. $1000. to win, and you know you can run the number, and you would rather get beat down at MIR in Real Street? We had the same arguement about Cecil
County's 10.00 rules last winter, and I do get it to a point. But to not give it a shot and see what happens for 1 race? I ran 6.50 once this year and a
couple times last year, wasn't my 1st choice in regards to tire choice and 1/8 mile, but I did at least try it. I guess talk to Rich about a UDR-N/A class
for next year (any head, stock suspension, up to a 315 radial).

Matter of fact, the MSRA will put up a $100. bonus if you win this 1st 5.80 race and you are an MSRA member. If we don't support some of this when it comes
down the pike, you can't blame anyone for not offering it again.

Matt, you have made some valid points.......I may reconsider my decission, after all is just one race.
Is there any other MSRA guys going? |

I'm not singling you out, Mike, as you are one of the few that still speaks his mind. I just don't see a bunch of Bracket racers showing up with no
Pro Tree experience, no delay boxes, and ruining it for everyone else. They didn't support the Sunday Index program earlier in the year at 75/80, thus why
it is no longer holding those races. Racers show up, support the thing, and then can help the track decide what they should use for rules next year. I'm
betting one of our regulars can walk away with a nice pay day. As far as the racers from "Man Asses", I guess they will win everything if know one
locally shows up to represent. So, who's in?

I'm interested in the class, but last Saturday I had a problem which put me real close to the wall. I gotta stick with the larger tracks for now till I get
a better handle on the chassis setup of this thing. I need alot more seat time to get comfortable in the car again, not to mention tuning the chassis
more....alot more.
It's bad enough fixing damaged front suspension and engine stuff, don't need to be fixing the body of the car as well right now. lol I hope they get a good turnout as I'd like to run at 75/80 more often next season. |

Is the track really that much narrower, or is it that everyone is used to the grass and then guardrail that was there for years? I've heard this alot this
year, but would think IHRA would have a minimum spec for track width. Every accident I have heard of this year, guys were way out of shape and should have
lifted way earlier.

the track is not any narrower than it ever was but is compared to other tracks . It dosent bother me and it is still wider than most streets I have raced on in
the past . every one will get used to it . the tracktion and track surface is coming around all of my 60ft times last sat. were all in the 1.30s . Just
remember this is the ONLY 5.80 race this year it will go on the schedule for next year only if they get support this means car count just saying you are
interested won't help their decision . Look at the 275 radial class alot of people were interested but never showed and the class was canceled . Just
somthing to think about.

Yes, if it happens this weekend the deal is still up. If they get rained out, I can't offer the bonus the same day we are at Mason Dixon:lol.

Big Props to Mike Barry for having the Nuts to give it a go Saturday. Too bad the track wasn't having any parts of that power.

I tried Matt, but I,m not sure if the track woulnt take the power or I didnt know how to use the power LOL! I was a little confused by the lack of no
ladder.......just pair up in the lanes and race!.
All was good though, at least 75/80 is trying new things for the area racers. |
